INTIMATE, RELAXED and modern

Are you newly engaged and searching for a welcoming, fun and beautiful wedding venue in the Shropshire and Staffordshire area? Meet Sarah and Giles and there amazing wedding at The Hundred House....

The Venue

When Sarah and Giles first contacted me to photograph their wedding day at The One Hundred House they told me they chose the venue because it felt relaxed, intimate and had several beautiful spaces which there guests could enjoy through out the day. This charming venue located between Bridgnorth and Telford was a perfect fit for their vision, combining rustic charm with modern elegance. It was my first time photographing a wedding at this venue, and I loved the challenge of finding new and creative photography opportunities in such a unique location.

The COUPLE'S STYLE

10/10...

Don't worry I will elaborate.. Sarah and Giles were very clear from the start that they wanted fun, natural and candid wedding photos, however they also trusted me completely to bring some creativity and spark to their images. They made the decision to forgo some of the more traditional wedding day elements like speeches and a first dance. This meant they were able to spend more time with their friends and family, and allowed for plenty of time to capture both romantic images of them together and some more fun group photos with their loved ones. Their wedding was full of laughter, emotions, and celebration.

PREPARATIONS

One of my favourite parts to any wedding day is when I first arrive to capture the wedding preparations. At the One hundred House there is a completely unique and wonderful carriage that can be used on the morning of the wedding to have hair and make up done and to simply relax and enjoy those final few moments before walking down the aisle. I met Sarah in the carriage in the morning and took some detail photos before moving round to the marquee to meet with Giles and his best man. Sarah had prepared a beautiful gift for Giles to open on the morning and the marquee with all the lovely natural light made it the perfect spot to capture him blubber like a baby. After the excitement of the gift exchange I made my way up the amazing historic winding staircase in the main building towards the bridal suite. When I say this venue is unique it is sure worth a visit to see exactly why!!

ceremony

The ceremony section of the wedding takes place in the incredible Tithe Barn adjoined to The One Hundred House. The beautiful 17th century barn adorns incredible oak beams, two mezzanine levels, and plenty of twinkling fairy lights that made Sarah and Giles' autumn wedding feel incredibly cosy and warm. Whilst this is such a special place to make your vows, it is important to make sure any wedding photographer you book is able to create some amazing images in barn venues. After the ceremony is over your guests will line up outside the barn doors to greet you, in the only acceptable way on a wedding day - with bucketful's of beautiful confetti.

CANDID'S AND Portraits

One of my favourite things about The One hundred House is just how many accessible and beautiful locations there are for group photos and couples photos. Sarah and Giles chose the iconic red door to have their group photos which was an fabulous choice as it adds that pop of colour and fun to the image. We had so much fun creating some amazing family shots for them to have as memories that we almost forgot we needed a few of Sarah and Giles together! I knew Sarah and Giles were a little nervous about having their photos taken but honestly they completely rocked it absolutely nailed the little prompts I gave them during the few minutes we had together for couples portraits. Even they didn't know how romantic they could be. Unfortunately rain (boo) meant that we did not have long together outside. However, the rain did not matter once we arrived back in the marquee where guests awaited eager to hug, laugh and celebrate with Sarah and Giles. Having an all-weather option for a UK wedding is a must! The marquee is the perfect location for those amazing unscripted moments to unfold. As a documentary wedding photographer, I love being able to tell a story with my photos and the drinks reception is where this is all about!!

RECEPTION AND PARTY

Okay so honest truth - i've said that most of a wedding day is my favourite so far. I'd be lying if I said I basically love all of it but... the food and party that's where its really at! I am not often lucky enough to be able to sample the amazing wedding food on offer at every venue so cannot often give my honest review but I will on this occasion... The One Hundred House absolutely smashed it. Whilst backing up the photos from the day I was able to enjoy EVERY single course and my oh my was it good! What I loved about the food in particular was that it was not your everyday wedding meal. We had the most incredible yorkshire puddings and sundae dessert. I am probably going to drive back here just to experience it all again. After all that I was so ready for the party! I even got my big party stick out (IYKYK). So if you do choose to get married here... please feed your photographer- you will not regret it.

WHY CHOOSE THE ONE HUNDRED HOUSE?

If the amazing desserts do not sell it to you then I do not know what else will - but if you’re an engaged couple looking for a relaxed and beautiful barn wedding venue in or around Shropshire, I can’t recommend The One Hundred House enough. The staff were incredible, the food was indescribably delicious, and the atmosphere was perfect. While the rain kept us from exploring the gardens, I can only imagine how stunning they would be for golden hour portraits in the summer. Sarah and Giles' wedding is the perfect example of how choosing a relaxed wedding venue can help you to create a wedding day that is truly personal, full of joy and true to who you are.
